adding a Need-based Screening before the current Service-based Screening
Currently the social care service is under great pressure across United Kingdom. The system has been striving to tackle with a growing number of elderly people and rising social care costs. In the context of the Care Act, as one of the representative social care service provider, Lambeth Adult Social Care (LASC) envisages an evolution of their current screening process, adding a Need-based Screening before the current Service-based Screening. The aim is to support a more preventative approach for users (mainly focused on older people over 55 years old) and reduce their demand on Lambeth Adult Social Care service.
- Service-based Screening – Identifying if the applicant is eligible for the services provided by Adult Social Care
- Need-based Screening – Identifying strengths, skills and values that the applicant has or needs to develop, then recommending the right services, which includes not only the services provided by LASC but also voluntary and community services and other social care services.
